Transferred! to Danbury, CT -- 4/17/2013

YAY pictures! Thank you! Here are some for you!

Here in Danbury Connecticut, you can upload photos on the computers. :) Finally, right?

I'm training Sister Wankier. She is super happy and awesome. We are really thrilled. We are working in the Spanish/Portuguese branch here. Super excited. I am so grateful to W*****. I was able to get used to Portuguese while I was in the Bronx, so that we can help even more members here.

Both Sister Valdez and Sister Cole are training. I sent a "generation" picture. With my three "daughters", and my two "granddaughters". You know that jargon, right? Your trainer is considered your mom.

I've also been called to be a Sister Training Leader. We go on exchanges with the other sisters at least once every cycle. It will be a fun opportunity to serve.

18 sister missionaries came to the field today. Wow! And Sister Wankier says that the MTC is stuffed full of them. When I was there, there was probably only about 300. And in less than a year, they fill the stadium. So exciting. :)

So, A**** wasn't baptized this last weekend. He is so close, but he just needs a little bit more time before he makes this amazing covenant. We are excited for the progress he has already seen, and know that it will just continue as he continues to strengthen his testimony and knowledge.

I love you so much!

Love,

Hermana Kin

Heat Wave! ... 4/10/2013

We had a great week. We spent most of the week with A****, preparing him for his baptism this Saturday. He is so ready!

He found Conference really interesting, and was excited. I think he is looking forward to the next one. Between the sessions, he had his baptismal interview, and it lasted an hour! Sister Cole and I were getting anxious, but he came out of the interview, chill like always. He's really excited.

So, his baptism will be on Saturday night. He'll get the Holy Ghost on Sunday, and the Priesthood as well.

W***** came to conference too! He's from Brazil. Remember how we are teaching in Portuguese too? It's so much fun. And something I never imagined happening in my mission. He loves talking, and we love listening. Although listening in Portuguese is a lot harder than it is in Spanish. :) On our fourth visit we were finally able to finish the first lesson. Hahaha. But it's good. He has so many questions, and we are excited to answer all of them. He is working on quitting smoking, but he is very very addicted. We saw him on Tuesday, and he hadn't smoked for three hours, and that was really impressive. He usually smokes 3-4 packs of cigarettes a day.
He loved listening to the prophet and wants to come to church with us every Sunday.

Well family! Transfers are coming up next week. A feel a change coming on.... But who knows?

Love you! Talk to you later!

The picture is of Zone conference. There were three zones in this picture and there are about nine zones in the mission. That's a lot of missionaries!

A Great Week! 4/3/2013

Oh gosh! That April Fool's Joke is really good. Haha. I was scared for a second. :)    (I sent her the news about BYU purchasing Utah State and renaming it BYU-Logan.  In the paper on April 1st. )

We've had a great week.

Sister Valdez isn't training yet, but her companion is finishing her mission in two weeks, so I am sure that she will be training really really soon.

Sister Cole and I are doing great. Seeing a lot of blessings for our obedience and hard work.

We are teaching a man named W*****. He is Brazilian and only speaks Portuguese. It's been really cool! Portuguese and Spanish are really similiar. There are no Portuguese elders in this area, so we get the awesome opportunity of teaching him. He has one of the worst smoking problems I have seen. It's really really bad. We had planned to teach him the Word of Wisdom, but he likes to talk a lot and hasn't really given us the opportunity to teach yet. But Friday, we will be teaching the word of wisdom. Super cool!

We also are teaching M***** from Guatemala. He is really interested. He stopped us in the laundromat and we sat down and had an awesome lesson with him. We are meeting with him again tomorrow. He is looking for truth and reality. Man... We are so excited. He's going to be coming to conference this weekend!

We sang in the choir on Sunday "Yo se que vive mi Senor". It was so fun!

A**** is progressing wonderfully, looking forward to his baptism. He's excited for conference too. I know he will feel the Spirit so strong. We meet with him three times a week.

S*** is still doing great, but hasn't received permission from her husband to be baptized, so we just keep going forward. We had an amazing experience with her in our last visit. We asked her what differences she has noticed in our church.... How would you answer that question?
-The Book of Mormon?
-The Priesthood?
-Prophets?
-No Coffee?

She didn't say any of those things. She said, "The difference I've noticed is the Spirit. I feel peace. I feel happiness. I feel love. I feel the Holy Spirit."

Isn't that a beautiful answer? That is the difference. It just feels good.

I love you! Hope you have a great week!

Love,
